Relaxed and candid maternity photography near mukilteo
It was one of those days in the Pacific Northwest where we were promised no rain but of course, there were sprinkles as I pulled into the parking lot of the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo WA. The rain soon subsided and what we were left with were cloud-filled skies that made for a beautiful backdrop for this family's maternity photo session. I try to channel as much of a calm energy before every photo session and this family made it so very easy to go with that flow. They had a great rapport with their son and his joy at being on the beach in Mukilteo made it into every photograph.
Having kids cooperate to smile and pose looking straight in the camera is never my goal in family photo sessions. I get this out of the way at the very beginning and repeat it so you know how important it is that you leave your session feeling like you didn't have to pretend to be something you're not.
Mukilteo lighthouse beach park
The Mukilteo Lighthouse is one of my top locations for any family session. The sun sets over the Puget Sound creating the most beautiful golden light in the summer and when it isn't sunny, the grey tones of the water and the pebble shore of the beach create a monochromatic effect that elevates any family photos. When the session involves kids, this Mukilteo location give them so much to interact with. This leads to a diverse gallery where photos look so unique.
Another perk of this spot is that there is a lot of paid parking, restrooms to change (if needed) and everything is easily walkable. I recommend that every family carries layers because it's sometimes windy being so close to the Sound (water). I also recommend families choose comfortable stylish shoes to make walking on the sand and near rocks, a little easier. The shoes tip is especially helpful to expectant mothers.
