This was an extended family photo session that took place in early Spring, right before graduation season was in full swing. This lovely family from the Everett area decided to combine family photos along with their teenager's high school Senior photos. We ended up in two separate locations - one urban in downtown Everett (I will share a post on that later) and the other at one of my favorite outdoor locations for family photos in the Seattle area - the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park. Here's why I love this place as a local and a photographer in the community.
Mukilteo lighthouse beach park
The Mukilteo Lighthouse is one of my top locations for any family session. The sun sets over the Puget Sound creating the most beautiful golden light in the summer and when it isn't sunny, the grey tones of the water and the pebble shore of the beach create a monochromatic effect that elevates any family photos. When the session involves kids, this Mukilteo location give them so much to interact with. This leads to a diverse gallery where photos look so unique.
Another perk of this spot is that there is a lot of paid parking, restrooms to change (if needed) and everything is easily walkable. I recommend that every family carries layers because it's sometimes windy being so close to the Puget Sound (water). I also recommend families choose comfortable shoes to make walking on the sand and near rocks, a little easier. If you'd like to go barefoot, that works as well for a more natural look. The shoes tip is especially helpful to expectant mothers.
